HobbyCraft Show

Author: Aichem
03 18th, 2008

After a full 4 days of demonstrations, I got home from the NEC HobbyCrafts Show on Sunday night and was on the road again the next morning at 7am!! This was to meet some crafty ladies for a day of workshops at Blue Haze Crafts in Chesham. I was supposed to start at 9.30am but unfortunately, after sitting on the M1 for way too long, I managed to arrive for about 10 o’clock!! :-( The journey should only take one hour, but hey, such is life. I thought that by waking up at 5am would allow me enough time to at least arrive by 9.30am even if I didn’t get there for 8.30 as planned LOL

The ladies, as usual, were a joy, I think that’s why I keep going back :-) I had a great time and can’t wait to go over again in another weeks time.

By contrast, the NEC was very busy and I have to thank all the crafters who came over to the Stamp Addicts stand to say hello to me. It was so nice to know that you had seen the Pick of the Week show on Create and Craft and Ideal World.

If you were there, I hope you enjoyed watching my demonstrations with Sticky Stuff, Art Metal, Shrink Plastic, Stampbord, etc. I am hoping to upload some pictures and hints & tips soon, so watch this space. It probably won’t be this week, but soon, I promise :-D

If there is anything you would like to know or if you have any crafty questions please email me. Also, if there are any pictures of cards, scrapbook pages, etc you would like me to upload to the website, please send them to me and I will sort that too …

I am off to Peterborough to do a pre-record of another Pick of the Week so watch out for me next week on your screens :-D

Til next time …

Hi Guys

Just thought I’d quickly update before I head off to Birmingham for the HobbyCrafts show. I am once again part of the Stamp Addicts Crew and will be demonstrating a range of their stamps. These stamps have been part of the Flower Power show, which aired on Create and Craft Channel last Saturday. They are beautiful, which is a good thing, as I will be using them for 4 days LOL.

Please come and see me if you are there. Its always lovely to see you all.

I hope you have caught one of the Pick of the Week shows on Create and Craft, which I recorded with Nigel May a few weeks ago. I had great fun on Monday night too, with Denise when I did my first ever live show. I know that there are going to be more shows, so watch out for me :-D

I will be (hopefully) updating the Hints and Tips page when I get back next week, so if there is anything that you would like me include please drop in an email at info@aichem.co.uk or leave a comment below…

Well, I suppose I had better go and pack as I need to make a move, so til later….

Stamparama Show

Author: Aichem
03 3rd, 2008

I was over in Stevenage yesterday and had a great time. It was my first time at the Stamparama show and I reckon it’s well worth a visit. A little cosier then the big craft shows but if you don’t like the idea of fighting the crowds it’s a definitely a good choice. Although there were a lot of people, it seemed more of a steady flow, which one lady told me was easier to cope with then the heaving crowds at places like the NEC for her. There were a lot more people then I presumed there would be as it was Mother’s Day too !! Hope you sent those flowers :-)

I was demonstrating on the Stamp Addicts stand, who organise the show twice a year. With gadgets, papers and stamps galore, amongst other fab crafting goodies, it could be said that it was a paradise, well, that’s what I would say :-D

I met some lovely crafters, at the show. Some new faces and some faces that I recognised from other shows and workshops. I will be waiting eagerly for pictures of the projects you promised girls :-D

Well, its nearly time for the NEC Hobby & Crafts show, only a little more then a week to go. I suppose I had better start preparing. It has been a hectic few weeks and it will be for a few more.

Watch out for the Create & Craft Pick of the Week, to be aired on Sunday 9th March 08 at 4pm on Sky channel 661. I did manage to find out that this channel is not available on cable so, sorry guys if you don’t have sky. However, I will be doing a live show of the Pick of the Week on Monday 10th March 08 on both Create & Craft and Ideal World Channels (simultaneously). This will be on at 6pm, so no excuses LOL.

With other shows in the pipeline, workshops, shows and magazines, there’s not much time to get bored. Well, its off to make some more samples :-) You know I love it LOL.

Promise to update the gallery soon with some new bits and bobs …

Well, guys, come and see me at the Stamp Addicts stand if you manage to get to the NEC. Would be lovely to have a chat with you :-)
Til’ then …

In my last post I said:

I was over at the Ideal World studios in Peterborough recently, doing a pre-record for the Pick of the Week. This is due to be aired on Sunday 24th Feb 08 at 4pm. The show will run throughout the week until the next Sunday, but will go off air if the goods sell out. So, if you want to kick me off the screen then get buying LOL

Well, I was looking at the schedule on my box this morning so that I could Sky+ it, and guess what, they’ve only gone and rescheduled it LOL. It will now be aired on the 9th March 08 at 4pm. The show will be on for a week as before or until the item sells out. Would be nice to get some comments from you guys if you catch a show :-D

Hope all you guys had a great Christmas and enjoyed the New Year celebrations. I had been meaning to update the blog earlier but we had a family tragedy just before Christmas and we are all just coming to terms with the shock. I had to ask for all my deadlines to be put back and I have just about got to the stage where I can think about the new year ahead.

I hope you have all seen my new schedule page that I posted a little while ago. Wonder if I’ll see any of you guys at the workshops I’m running, hope so. ;-)

More projects have been submitted to Lets Make Cards, this time for issue 13 !! so look out for that one. Also, if you want to watch videos for selected projects, Crafts Beautiful have a great site, just click here and go to the video page. There is an archive of projects too …

Yesterday I was in Peterborough, filming some new projects for further issues of the Create & Craft Online Magazine. It’s always lovely to meet C&C Club members, I have felt really flattered by their comments. So, ladies (& gents), hope you like what’s to come :-)

Well, here’s to 2008, hope the new year brings everyone everything they wish for.

Happy New Year guys.
:-D xxx

Firstly, I must apologise for taking so long to update the website. It has been totally hectic over the past few weeks, but it’s been good. I think I am just about catching my tail now, LOL ;-)

I was privileged enough to be demonstrating at the NEC on behalf of Stamp Addicts over 3 days of the 4 day Hobby Crafts Show. It was such great fun and fantastic to see so many crafters under one roof. The fashion show was fab. The demonstrators and exhibitors got to see it at the end of day one. The models were very brave to be wearing dresses made of paper, card, embellishments and even needles!! There were a couple of incidents with some of the dresses becoming undone and catching onto each other, but the girls managed to preserve their dignity in a very professional manner. However, I don’t think any of the exhibitors noticed the mishaps as they were busy nursing their glasses of champagne. ;-)

I was demonstrating the Judikins Sticky Stuff, which is an embossing powder that turns to glue after it has been heated. Once tacky, glitter, flock, metal leaf, foil, accent beads, etc can be used over the top of the image to decorate. To adhere the Sticky stuff to the paper a stamp and VersaMark can be used. A lot of ladies were asking me if was the same as the glue pads that are available, which I suppose it is, but I did find that the powder gave a more of a wet glue type bond which is stronger to hold things like accent beads. I managed to sell out of all the stock that Stamp Addicts had bought to the show so I was really pleased with the result. It is available from their website which you can find to the right of this post under LINKS.

My good friend Amanda Bateman is launching her new website soon, if you are interested receiving newsletters then sign up now and you will get an email once her site is up and running. Find the link below and under LINKS over on the right of this post.
www.AmandaBateman.co.uk

Amanda and I did have a laugh and it was good to catch up with her. I did see her again yesterday when I ran a workshop with her in Chesham. For a list of regular workshops in Chesham please see www.Blue-Haze.co.uk. Amanda regularly takes workshops there and I am also hoping to run a few more workshops too so watch this space . . .

My Coleman’s workshops are all still running regularly and I am having a lot of fun with the ladies that attend them. They are all such a laugh and there always seems to be one that missed her vocation as a stand up comic LOL.
If you are tempted to join the laughter in Rushden please see www.colemangroup.co.uk under Craft Workshops and you will find a list of all workshops taking place. There are many interesting classes including parchment craft, jewellery making, etc. If you do decide to book a class please mention that you got the information from my website.

Lastly, if you have any cards, ATCs and/or other crafty bits that you would like displayed on my site, please send an email to Info@Aichem.co.uk with the picture, your name and town and I will upload the image together with the information.

Happy Crafting for now and Hope to hear from you soon :-D
